Zen Anma Healing is a gentle form of acupressure which releases tension and blockages in the energy meridians of the body harmonizing their flow. Many energy meridians run through our bodies and each supplies its area with the necessary energy and vitality. These meridians connect to the organs of the body as well and facilitate the transfer energy between them. Each organ of the body is linked to a certain emotion we experience so that, for example, aiding and releasing tension found in the stomach and stomach meridian would correspondingly help with one’s worrying. People who may have difficulty controlling anger would benefit from releasing tension and harmonizing the flow in the liver meridian – allowing pent-up frustration to come into our awareness and wash away – and so on. Resistance within these meridians affects our health and well-being and can lead to illness over time if they stay clogged; freeing these blockages allows us to be more relaxed, healthy, and energized.
Is it good for everyone?
Anma healing benefits anyone who has physical stiffness or tension or has had an injury; it’s also great for any one who has difficulty dealing with a certain emotion or letting go of something in their lives - this can be situations, relationships, or tough memories. It also benefits in instances where one just doesn’t feel quite balanced but isn’t sure why. Often harmonizing these lines of flow helps bring the cause of the problem to the foreground where it can be faced and dealt with.
Anma healing is powerful and gentle on the system in comparison to acupuncture and some other therapies. A style of ancient Chinese acupressure, it has been used in one form or another at Zen temples in Japan for hundreds of years and at temples in China for much longer. Although beneficial for all kinds of people and problems it’s especially effective for those involved in some form of yoga or meditation practice, where opening the meridians allows the body’s natural flow to happen and result in being able to go deeper with one’s meditation and mindfulness practice. Often it can uncover things lying just under the surface of our awareness and allow them to arise and wash away.
