"Twist and nourish" workshop

Come and join me in this workshop where we'll be focussing on twisting within Zen yoga practice.

We'll look at a number of sequences designed to nourish us not just on a physical level, but also on the energetic, mental, emotional and spiritual levels.

Twisting is enormously beneficial to us for many reasons:
  • Twists help to restore and retain the spine’s natural range of motion. If we don't use it, we lose it!
  • Twisting our body's energy channels (meridians) helps unblock and stimulate them, leading us to a life more full of vitality and ease.
  • Twists help your spinal disks. These disks are like delicate pieces of sponge. When they're damaged they can be major sources of pain and difficulty. Stretching and twisting "wrings out" your disks and helps bring in fresh blood and nutrition.
  • Lengthening and stretching helps to decompress your disks, giving you more space to move. When there's a lack of space in our spine, we tends to slump or feel stuck.
  • Twists help to stimulate our internal organs (the source of our energy channels), which can help stimulate our metabolism and elimination processes.
